The Opportunity

From boyhood through the Majors, Matt Walbeck’s and Glen Gross' lives were consumed with baseball. Matt spent over 25 years in professional baseball, including 11 years as a Major League catcher and time as a Minor League manager and a Major League coach. Glen has managed youth baseball and competitive youth baseball teams for over a decade.

In 2012, the duo launched Walbeck Baseball Academy. They serve over 200 aspiring baseball players from young beginners to college athletes, with a range of programs from private instruction to group training. Walbeck Baseball Academy's 11 instructors and managers operate two indoor locations and several outdoor locations.

With so many locations, instructors and clients to manage, Matt and Glen knew their growing Academy needed a software platform that would let them operate smoothly, efficiently, and from anywhere. They also wanted the staff, athletes and their parents to have an easy way to manage their schedules anywhere from the car to the field.

The Solution

Matt and Glen explored a number of software options and Pike13 hit a home-run with every requirement. Matt said the platform reminded him of Facebook—clean and modern.

Unlike many other solutions, Pike13 gives Walbeck Baseball Academy the ability to customize their Pike13 website to their business and brand—logo, colors, pictures, offerings, locations, and staff. “It just looked much more like 'us' than anything else,” says Glen.

The Results

Another benefit of Pike13 is the ability to get work done quickly—and from anywhere. The flexibility and efficiency to manage clients from an iPad or iPhone is vital to Walbeck Baseball Academy.
