Step Three - Services

Learn how to choose and configure Classes, Appointments, and Courses so your Pike13 services match how your business runs.

Now that you have completed Step Two and created profiles for your staff members, it is time to set up your services. A service is an event offered by your business that a client can attend. Pike13 has three different types of services: Classes, Appointments and Courses.

Classes are group lessons or sessions that are offered on the same day and time every week or daily. Clients may choose to attend a class every day or they can take a class every once and awhile. Classes allow for flexible attendance as well as makeups.

Appointments are for booking one on one private sessions. These are not offered at a particular time each day but are based on when a  staff member is available for privates. Only one client can book a particular time online with an instructor. However, staff can choose to enroll more than one client into a specific appointment time.

Courses are scheduled for a period of time and clients must pay the enrollment fee for the course upfront before they are enrolled in the entire session. Clients are expected to attend the entire series and cannot cancel or reschedule individual sessions. Courses work well for weekly camps or weekend workshops.

In this video series, we will add a class, an appointment and a course to Studio42. We will go through step by step how to set up each service and the options for configuring it for a business.

Introduction: Service Series

Still not sure if you should create a class, appointment or a course? In this video, we will discuss the differences between these three services in more detail.

Classes

If your businesses offers groups sessions and clients can enroll in only one or can choose to take several, you may wish to create this service as a class. With a class service, you can accommodate drop-ins, makeups and staff can bulk enroll your regular clients who attend regularly.

Appointments

If you offer private training where an instructor works with 1 client, this service will work well as an appointment service. Appointment services allow 1 client to book a time online with a staff member.

Courses

If you offer a series of lessons and clients must take the entire series, a course may work for you. To enroll in a course, a client must pay the entire enrollment fee upfront. Courses do not allow clients to make-up missed lessons, drop in for one session or only enroll in part of the series. If you allow clients to drop in for one session or make-up a missed session, you may wish to consider setting up a recurring class instead.
