Front Desk is becoming Pike13!

We have some exciting news in the works, and we want you to be the first to know: On June 1st, Front Desk will become Pike13.  This article will tell you why, followed by some Frequently Asked Questions to explain what this change means for you and your clients.

Why are we changing our name?

There are a couple of reasons, actually.  One is practical. “Front Desk” is a somewhat generic company name.  There are other software companies in other industries with similar names (like “Front Desk Anywhere” for hotel management).  That sometimes causes confusion in the market which makes it harder to get the word out.  But more importantly…

We’ve been through a lot together over the past few years, and we’ve had some time to reflect on our mission and how we can be the best possible partner for the businesses we serve.  We are more than just your “Front Desk”, our software is mission critical for our customers. So we wanted a new name that would keep us grounded and focused as we grow.

Pike13 reflects that for us. It represents where we started and who we are. We were born in Seattle and our office is at the corner of E. Pike Street and 13th Avenue.  We were founded by a small group of local CrossFit gym owners and software folks. We’re part of the community.  And community is a big deal for us.

We are a band of CrossFitters, yoga teachers, dance instructors, coaches, and fitness enthusiasts all committed to helping small and medium-sized businesses help their own communities to lead healthier, fitter, more enriched and balanced lives.

Our new logo is a signpost that keeps us focused on that mission.  Reminding us that “Pike & 13th” represents community. It represents businesses on every corner in every neighborhood in every town and city. Businesses that thrive by fostering strong connections with their clients and the communities they serve.

We are energized by this name change, and we will be focusing that energy on continuing to serve you the best we can. Building the best products, providing the best customer care, and delivering the best experience you can find in the industry.

Read on for answers to questions that you might have about our upcoming name change and what it means for you and your customers.

When will this change be taking place?

We will officially switch over to our new Pike13 name and web address on June 1st.  Between now and then, when you are logged into Front Desk you may see our new name and logo in some places. Making a change like this is a tall order, so we will be switching some things gradually as we go rather than try to make all changes at once. None of the changes will affect how your site behaves.

What is the new URL?

Our new URL (web address) is https://www.pike13.com. Right now, if you visit this address it will redirect you to the frontdeskhq.com site. After June 1st, it will be the reverse and visiting frontdeskhq.com will redirect you to pike13.com.

Your new site URL (“yourbusiness.pike13.com”) will become live on June 1st.  Your existing URL (“yourbusiness.frontdeskhq.com”) will automatically redirect visitors to your new site URL.

How long can I continue to access frontdeskhq.com?

We’ll keep the frontdeskhq.com URL until the end of the year, giving you plenty of time to update all your links and bookmarks to your new pike13.com URL.  After the change, on June 1st, we will remind you periodically to update your links and bookmarks.

Will the functionality within my Front Desk App change?

No, the change will only affect URLs, name, icon, etc. Functionality remains the same. Of course, we’re always working on new functionality and feature enhancements!

Will I have to download a new Kiosk App or Staff App?

No, your existing Apps will continue to work with no changes. However, we will produce updated builds of each App and we recommend downloading the updated versions when they are available, to keep current.

Will my clients have to download a new branded App?

No. Similar to the Kiosk and Staff Apps, branded Apps will continue to work for your clients.  We will produce updated builds, and we have exciting new functionality planned for early this summer, and so we recommend that your clients download and update the latest versions when they become available.

How else will our staff and clients be affected by this change?

Beginning June 1st, the first time staff and clients login to your site on pike13.com they may be asked to re-enter their passwords even if the password is currently saved.

Is there a new Tax ID Number for Pike13?

No, our Tax ID will remain the same.

When will I receive my first invoice from Pike13?

The first invoice date after the 19th of May will reflect the new name.

How will the name change impact my contract with Front Desk?

There won’t be any impact to existing contracts, as we will be the same legal entity.  Contract renewals will begin to reflect our new name.
