Ford Creek Fitness offers a complimentary T-shirt to every new member as part of their welcome package. To make this process seamless, they added a custom field during client signup to collect each member’s T-shirt size.

By setting up a “T-shirt Size” field, Ford Creek Fitness can ensure every new member receives the perfect fit without needing to follow up later. Creating Custom Client Fields: Control What You Collect

With Pike13’s Custom Client Fields, you decide exactly what questions you ask and how you collect the answers. Whether you need additional info for compliance, personalization, or internal processes, you can create fields that fit your business’s unique needs. Plus, you can choose who sees these fields, whether they are required or optional, and where the collected information is displayed.

How to Create a Custom Client Field:

  1. Go to Settings > Advanced Settings.

  2. Select Custom Fields under Client Signup.

  3. Click + New Custom Field.

  4. Enter a title for the new field that clearly describes what you're asking.

  5. Add a note under Why ask for this? to explain the importance of the field to your clients.

  6. Choose the format in which you want to collect the information:

    • Freeform Text: Great for open-ended responses.
    • Date Only: Perfect for collecting birthdates or event-specific dates.
    • Multiple Choice: Let clients select one or more predefined options.
    • Yes/No: When a simple answer will do.
  7. Decide whether the field is required, optional, or hidden during client signup, giving you full control over what’s mandatory for your business.

  8. Choose where this field will be visible:

    • Client Profiles: Determine whether it shows in client profiles for both clients and staff.
    • Staff Profiles: Decide if staff members need to complete this information when signing into their accounts.
    • Staff Visibility: Specify whether all staff, managers/owners only, or no staff members can view the field.
  9. Choose whether this field will be a placeholder in documents, such as waivers or contracts, by checking Can this field be used when creating documents?.

  10. If this field should be synced with MailChimp for targeted marketing, make sure to check Sync this field to MailChimp for easy segmentation in email campaigns.

  11. Click Save, and you’re ready to start gathering the information that matters most to your business!

Editing Custom Client Fields: Fine-Tune Your Information Collection

Need to update a field after you’ve already created it? No problem. Pike13 makes it easy to adjust your Custom Client Fields to ensure you’re always asking the right questions.

How to Edit a Custom Client Field:

  1. Go to Settings > Advanced Settings.
  2. Select Custom Fields under Client Signup.
  3. Choose Edit next to the Custom Field you want to update.
  4. From here, you can make updates to the field name, the type of question, and where the information is shown.
    • To change the type of question, click the dropdown under Which answer options do you want to offer?.
    • If you choose Multiple Choice, don’t forget to click Add an Option to define each possible answer.
  5. Scroll down to update visibility settings, ensuring the field is displayed exactly where it’s needed.
  6. Once you’ve made your changes, click Update to save.
